Putin’s Land Grab

Whenever an acute  social problem surfaces requiring immediate attention people always focus on the symptoms, never on the underlying disease.  Putin’s grabbing Crimea is a symptom. The underlying emotional  sickness of human beings that made this act of aggression possible is the disease that is always overlooked.

The following, in brief, is the symptom: As a result of it’s anti-authoritarian transformation, Western countries including Russia are socially disintegrating. Faced with this problem, a strong leader like Putin moves to the political right to take control of the social chaos in his country. He also quickly sizes up Barack Obama the leader of the Western World as a weak and politically ineffectual individual. To further consolidate his power, he decides to take an aggressive international action and seizes Crimea.

Part of the underlying disease is the social disintegration of Russian Society that needs to be controlled. Another part is that the same process of social disintegration to a far greater extent is happening in America. However, America’s social sickness is aggravated by having elected a President who has proven himself to be unable to take an aggressive stand to protect America’s interests in any area, either domestically and internationally.

The deepest level of humanity’s disease is that the American public does not see that they have elected a man who is to a large extent responsible for bringing about this international crisis and the destructive consequences that will follow. The American public’s cluelessness is the central problem.

The Rise In People’s Cluelessness

Around 1960, a fundamental transformation in Western Society took place from authoritarian to anti-authoritarian. With the transformation, there was a change in the pattern of armor in young people. Ocular armor largely replaced muscular armor and this had destructive personal and social consequences. Emotional energy was no longer able to be bound and held back in muscular armor. As a result of the weakening of muscular armor and the increase in ocular armor, destructive emotions were expressed through intellectualized rationalizations, hatred and contempt of authority. Blame and resentment were directed at traditional authority figures in all areas of society.
Young people became more irrational and out of touch with themselves and with the world. They became more contactless. The word clueless that is in common usage today accurately describes this mental state.
Accompanying the anti-authoritarian transformation, there appeared for the first time a syndrome of symptoms in children characterized by disturbances in focusing, restlessness and hyperactivity. This condition was called Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).
Today, the number of young American adults taking medication for ADHD has nearly doubled from 2008 to 20012. One in ten adolescent boys were taking a drug for the disorder.
Today’s adult population represents the children of the baby boomers that were growing up in the 60’s. From a bio-psychiatric perspective, a primary manifestation of the disorder that first appeared at that time, ADHD, are a result of ocular pathology. It is possible to treat this disorder without the use of medication by a qualified therapist.

Schizophrenia And Marijuana Use

Clinical experience in medical orgone therapy shows that patients who have a schizophrenic character structure and  use marijuana often develop a psychotic reaction.  Patients with a non-schizophrenic character structure who use marijuana do not become psychotic but are emotionally deadened and unable to respond in the process of therapy.

In “Pot-Smoking And the Schizophrenia Connection,” an article in The Wall Street Journal July 2, 2013,  evidence is provided of  “a significant and consistent relationship between marijuana use and the development of schizophrenia and related disorders.”  The article cites other articles in the medical literature confirming the association between marijuana use and schizophrenia.

However, there is a segment of the population that uses marijuana that does not develop schizophrenia.  In order to make sense of the difference in people’s responses to the same drug there has to be a better  understanding of the schizophrenic character.  Schizophrenia is the result of ocular repression with panic and splitting (See Man in the Trap, page 141 by Elsworth Baker). Because traditional psychiatrists do not understand the role played by ocular armor in schizophrenia, many people in the general population who are schizophrenic characters are not recognized to have the illness by them.

There are all degrees in which panic and splitting occur in the schizophrenic population.  Many individuals with a schizophrenic character structure who are able to live fairly normal lives can break down and become psychotic if environmental stresses become more than they can handle.  In these individuals marijuana use can act as a stressor and induce a psychotic reaction.

This is an example illustrating the importance of having an accurate bio-psychiatric diagnosis before  evaluating any social situation.

The DSM System Of Diagnosis Cannot Work

The diagnostic system  (DSM 5) published by the American Psychiatric Association is a symptom based approach to diagnosis and treatment of mental disorders. This system is the result of the psychiatrist’s inability to see the character structure of the patient behind the symptom. From a clinical perspective,  any symptom can occur in any patient and, therefore, it is not possible to have a symptom based system of diagnosis. The whole of the patient’s character, determines the function of any symptom and a character based diagnostic system is central to treatment.

Apropos Of Women Drivers In Saudi Arabia

In ” The Woman Who Dared to Drive”, Wall Street Journal, March 23-24, 2013, the author describes the harsh reaction of the al-Saud ruling government to a woman, Manal al-Sharif, who broke the custom of the kingdom that women are not permitted to drive.  Ms al-Sharif was arrested and detained in prison for over a week and was released only after her father personally pleaded with Saudi Arabia’s King Abdullah for a pardon and pledged to forbid his daughter ever to drive again in the kingdom.

These events can only make sense from a functional energetic perspective. On one hand there is a woman who wants to exercise her right to drive a motor vehicle.  On the other is a rigidly authoritarian social order that is based on repression of women in particular and on sexual repression in general.  The strict authoritarian order must maintain its control over people by imposing absolute moral rules of social conduct.  These rules function to contain enormous quantities of destructive energy that are bound up in people’s character and muscular armor because that armor prevents them from naturally expressing their emotions socially.  Once these rules are liberalized the flood gates of destructive human emotions will be unleashed and bring about what will amount to an “Arab Spring” for the kingdom, a highly destructive and  chaotic situation similar to that which has recently engulfed many other Muslim nations in the area.

Because Saudi Arabian society is on the socio-political extreme right, black fascists (emotional plague characters) on the right can easily infiltrate and exert control over social policy in the kingdom further increasing the degree of its social rigidity.  The solution to Ms al-Sharif’s problem is not liberalization of Saudi custom but an understanding of and addressing the Saudi pople’s underlying emotional plague that makes it necessary.

Why The Left Almost Always Wins In Politics

In todays anti-athoritarian society the left has almost no chance of losing in politics.  This is partly because leftists are primarily herd animals and they behave collectively in times of crisis as when they have to make political decisions.  Making collective decisions is comfortable for leftists in today’s  anti-authoritarian society because as long as they are being taken care of by their government there is little effort involved in going along with the tide of the political left’s mainstream thinking.  For many, becoming politically mindless is a way of not looking at what is objectively happening around them.

By contrast, those on the right are individualists.  They tend to stick by their principles which are governed more by their personal feelings than by group thinking.  As a result,  they often stand apart from others when confronted with social decisions and this is the reason they have more difficulty coming together as a political force when it comes down to winning political battles.

Furthermore, there are many elements in liberal ideology that conservatives are in favor of.  From a functional perspective, these are the counter truths contained in liberal ideology.  On the other hand, because of their greater degree of ocular armor, liberals are blinded and are driven by their ideology.  The ability of conservatives to recognize and be influenced by the counter truth in liberal ideology is the reason that  there are many varieties of conservatives but few of liberals.  This ability of conservatives to see the aspects of liberalism that they politically favor prevents them from mindlessly coming together as a stronger political force to oppose liberal programs.  Conversely, it is precisely their inability to see the counter truth contained in conservative ideology that makes liberals the politically stronger force.  The presence or absence of ocular armor determines much of what goes on in politics.

The Biological Origin Of Political Correctness

From a sociological perspective, political correctness is defined as the distorted expression of Marxist ideas translated from economics into cultural terms.  Since Marxists and other leftists live almost entirely from the destructive secondary and superficial layers of their bio-psychic structure, it follows that from a biological perspective political correctness is the expression of impulses and ideas originating from the destructive secondary layer that are made socially acceptable by passing through the superficial layer (the defensive use of intellect.)

An example of political correctness is given in the article,  Muslims, Mormons and Liberals ( Wall Street Journal, September 18, 2012) by Bret Stephens. He describes the audience’s response of roaring laughter while watching Mormons being ridiculed and made the butt of obscene jokes in the Broadway Musical, “The Book of Mormons.” He contrasts this response to the liberal establishment’s denouncing of a video clip of a film, “Innocence of Muslims” which depicts slurs made against the Muslim religion.  Leftists across America  called the video “reprehensible and disgusting” and laid sole blame on it for inciting the rioting throughout most of the Muslim world .  Stephens concludes that in the consensus of American liberalism, it is hilarious to mock Mormons and Mormonism but outrageous to mock Muslims and Islam.  He asks cogently, could it be because ” nobody has ever been harmed, much less killed, making fun of Mormons?”

Without knowledge of socio-political characterology, Stephen’s question goes to the heart of the character structure of all leftists: Since they operate from their superficial layer (intellect), they have little or no ability to tolerate physical aggression from their core (which includes the voluntary musculature) and, therefore, they are terrified of and unable to forcefully stand up to the fascist Muslim uprisings on the Right.  Instead, they respond passively  by appeasing and placating them and, at the same time, they displace their unconscious  hatred of Western authority onto benign institutions on the Right such as the  Mormons who are not feared and are therefore seen as safe to attack.

This example is given to illustrate that in order to truly understand socio-political behavior and attitudes and what is going on in our sick world, an in-depth knowledge of the biologically based, emotional roots of  socio-political characterology is essential.

Welcome To The World Of Islam

In order to make sense of what is going on between the Muslim world and the West, an understanding of socio-political characterology is essential.  As long as the authoritarian social order in the West was intact, the Muslim world’s sleep was not disturbed. With the anti-authoritarian transformation of Western society which began around 1960, a polarization and a cultural clash slowly developed between the two worlds.  This was because the anti-authoritarian transformation in the West with the help of the pseudo-liberal/communist character  resulted in a marked shift to the far Left in the socio-political spectrum in these countries.  Since the Muslim world continued to remain unmoved on the far Right of center, this shift widened the already existing cultural gap between them:  The West shifted to the extreme left while the Muslim world continued to  remain unchanged on the extreme Right.

The shift to the Left  in Western culture resulted in the breakdown of  social traditions in every area including particularly a loosening of sexual mores and a decline in personal responsibility.  The permissive attitudes opened the floodgates for the expression of all sorts of secondary destructive impulses in the West which included anti-authoritarian disparaging remarks against each and every form of traditional social institution including the Islamic religion.

This brought about social conditions that were favorable for the eruption of an emotional plague reaction of global proportions.  The Muslim world responded to this behavior on the part of the Left-dominated West in a way that would be expected for the Right, viscerally.  They reacted violently to it as a provocation depending on how far they were characterologically on the right.  Those who were farthest on the Right, the Black Fascists and  the Reactionaries, reacted explosively to the provocation by destroying properties that they saw as symbols of Western influence while those who were less extremist, the conservatives and extreme conservatives, responded less militantly, by preserving the Muslim religion and way of life through peaceful means.

The global aspect of the emotional plague was now in place for the organized elements of Muslim Fascist groups, such as the extreme Right Salafis and al Qaeda, to enter and drum up Muslim outrage spreading the eruption from one country to another.

The fascist Muslim on the Right is active in physically fighting the pseudo-liberal/communist on the Left since he sees him as a rival for the world domination they both seek and as a threat to his essential mysticism (distorted core contact).  By contrast, the pseudo-liberal/communist goes about his solution differently (through his intellect) because he has an essentially mechanistic character structure (lack of core contact). Both political extremes share the same end. They differ only in the means of achieving it.

Telltale Signs Of Leftist Ideologues

No matter how well they try to conceal their true identity behind a facade of “objectivity”, no matter how well they rationalize their arguments, no matter how hard they try to hide their contempt for the “unenlightened,” leftist ideologues have one characteristic in common that always gives them away: They believe in the perfectibility of human beings.  Based on this belief, they are constantly driven to seek change through political action to solve people’s social problems.  This characteristic  of leftists identifies them as “progressives” and originates from a specific feature in their socio-political character structure: They all function from their superficial layer or facade and their destructive middle layer.  From the superficial  layer comes their idealism and their unshakable view that people are perfectible through political intervention. From their destructive middle layer comes their “case” for political action. From these preconceptions the ideologues believe that they are the chosen ones most qualified to improve people’s lives through their socialistic programs.  All others who are opposed to their belief system become collectively associated with the Right. Thus, the ideological battle that takes place between the Left and the Right comes down to those who want to “fix” people and those who are able to see that the methods of the left simply do not work.

Now, it is true that especially as a result of the breakdown of the authoritarian social order society is in trouble and in dire need of help.  However, these leftist ideologues are not the ones who are capable of improving social conditions because they have little or no understanding of  the biologically rooted emotional forces that play the decisive role in determining human social behavior, healthy as well as pathological.  In fact, the Leftists  are more likely than not to make matters worse with their ” solutions.”  These solutions are always basically the same: Change the surface manifestation of social problems and ignore their underlying biological basis.  The result of this symptomatic approach is that social conditions continue to worsen as they spread to and become embedded in deeper layers of social armor.
