Not Seeing The Forest For The Trees

Armored people see and think about the world in bits and pieces.  No matter what subject they are studying, they are incapable of seeing the whole picture.  They have been taught to view the world mechanistically, as if it were nothing but a machine that is made up of a number of replaceable parts.  A manifestation of ocular armor, this distorted way of viewing things is endemic in every branch of science including sociology.

As an example, consider people’s view of the generalized deterioration in the quality of American life that began around 1960 and is accelerating at an increasing rate.  Some people focus on the signs and symptoms of the deterioration such as the breakdown of the traditional family, the increase in teen age  pregnancies, the degradation in acceptable forms of social behavior and so on.  Others look at the reasons for the decline.  Liberals focus on  shifts in governmental policy and economic factors.  Conservatives look at the decline in cultural values.  These opposing views result in ideological conflicts between the left and the right.  Things remain the same.  Still others are not even aware that anything at all important is happening.

There is no comprehensive picture of the reasons for the destructiveness that is happening to our society. What still remains to be generally recognized and  functionally understood are the biological determinants that govern social life.  Around 1960, the structure of Western society was fundamentally transformed from authoritarian to anti-authoritarian.   The anti-authoritarian society that we are currently living in was the result of the breakthrough of powerful impulses of sexual yearning of the younger generation which came through to the social surface with a destructive force.  The reason that they surfaced in this way at this particular time was that these impulses could no longer be held back (repressed) because of  the failure of the two opposing forces of social armor: on the one hand there was the increasing pressure behind the sexual urges of the younger generation and on the other there was the weakening of the repressive forces contained in the authoritarian social armor.  This resulted in the so-called sexual revolution.

The anti-authoritarian transformation accounts for every one of the destructive social changes that we are currently witnessing.  Now, all forms of authority, rational as well as irrational have been largely thrown overboard.  Authority in general and parental authority in particular, are viewed by many with suspicion and hostility.  Many of the younger generation today have no respect for their elders and reject learning anything that they and tradition have to offer.  This includes being personally responsible for one’s life through the ability to earn a living.  As a result, not only has the authoritarian family structure largely fallen apart but also what remained of their biological work function.  (Just 48% of working-class whites in America were married in 2010 down from 84% in 1960).

With the breakdown of the authoritarian family and having no other authorities to blame for their problems, many children of the baby boomers who grew up in the 60s are unable to earn a living, and now depend on their families or on the government to care for them.

As in the case of medical diseases, only with a clear, functional understanding of the social disease can there be a true course of treatment.

The Cult Of Saul Alinsky

In order to successfully oppose the emotional plague’s social destructiveness, one must first  have a clear understanding of its mode of operation. The cult of Saul Alinsky is a perfect example of the manifestation of the organized emotional plague from the extreme left (communist) end of the socio-political spectrum.  Populated by many noted Alinsky disciples such as Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton, its function is to fundamentally transform the United States of America into a socialist state.

Its first step is to penetrate  the mainstream of American life by establishing common ground with financially influential individuals and institutions and pretending to have an ideological affinity with them.  By securing a financial base, this step indicates that the plague’s infection has succeeded in taking hold of American society and is in a position to infiltrate and destroy its victim from within.

The second step is to camouflage its facade so as to appear to have the best of all intentions, a benign organization with a benevolent purpose.  No longer are they communist political activists looking to “expropriate the expropriators.”  Now, they are “community organizers” who champion “social justice for the poor and powerless masses.”  Social justice means equalizing wealth by taking from those who have more and giving it to “the disadvantaged.” Nothing is mentioned about the the work disturbance of poor people that prevents them from taking advantage of the enormous opportunities to work in America. The most basic principle of Alinsky’s advice to radicals is to lie to their opponents and disarm them by pretending to be moderates and genuine liberals.

Now, plague individuals are in a position to carry out the third and final step of their destructive operation.  This step was perfected by Alinsky when he was associated as a “mascot” with the Chicago mob where he learned their methods of extortion and intimidation in their day-to-day criminal operations.  These methods, which clearly originated from the secondary destructive layer of criminals, were cleverly applied by Alinsky to his operations as a community organizer all within the existing legal system. (The Occupy Wall Street movement is a current example of how these methods are being played out.)

President Obama was an adept practitioner with a long history of familiarity with Alinsky’s methods.  For several years Obama taught workshops on the Alinsky method.  In 1986, he was hired by the Alinsky team to organize residents on Chicago’s South Side.  His mode of operation as president closely resembles Alinsky’s and this is why liberals have to minimize Obama’s affinity for Alinsky in the upcoming presidential election.

The Green Movement Is An Infestation Of The Emotional Plague

Why do some scientists assert that elevation of atmospheric carbon dioxide  due to human fossil fuel consumption is related to an elevation in atmospheric temperature when there is little objective evidence that shows this correlation? Why do leftist political ideologues promote alternate energy sources to fossil fuels that are less energy efficient and therefore economically more expensive and less realistic?   Since there is little factual evidence that supports their statements, they must be holding on to them because they are being used to promote a preexisting belief system, a personal agenda.  This way of distorting the truth is a typical characteristic of the emotional plague.

A plague reaction always has a good reason justifying it, a reason that no one in their right mind could disagree with.  In the case of the Green Movement, this alleged reason is the importance of replacing fossil fuels with a more beneficial, environmentally cleaner source of energy.  The true underlying reason for the Movement, however, is a political one, to shift control of the government from the private sector to the public sector, to give more power to the Federal Government over the people and, at the same time, to undermine America’s role as a world leader.  What is ignored in the alleged reason is the fact that, at this time there is no better, efficient and safer source of energy than fossil fuels and that when such a source becomes available the free market, not the Federal Government, is in a better position to effectively harness it for the American public.

Every life-positive impulse from the biological core as it moves to the surface is met by the human armor contained in the secondary, destructive layer where it turns into a life-negative force.  The Green Movement started as a natural movement to improve the human impact on the environment.  When it encountered people’s armor it turned into a life inimical political movement.  This is the fate of all political movements.

The Polarization Of America

One of the destructive consequences of the anti-authoritarian transformation of American society was the rapid influx of radical leftists into every area of social influence including politics, education, jurisprudence and the media.  This has resulted in a dramatic shift of the political mainstream to the left of center (the socio-political red-shift.)  This transformation is why today, anyone who is on the political left, even leftist radicals such as President Obama can appear to be just a political moderate in the eyes of many Americans.

Soon after the transformation occurred, this shift leftward in the political mainstream spontaneously resulted in the formation of the Conservative Party as a reaction to it and in the polarization in American society between the two political groups belonging on the left and right.  The ideologies of the left and right are opposing forces that function like a true symptom in the social realm, the political left’s longing for unbridled freedom on the one hand and the right’s opposition to it on the other.  The opposing forces of the left and right are the constituents of the social armor of armored humans that are becoming increasingly rigidified as the left relentlessly presses for it’s socialistic, ( “One World”) agenda on an unsuspecting American public.

The Socio-politics Of Race Relations In America

In order to understand social phenomena, one has to be knowledgable of the underlying bio-emotional and characterological forces that determine human behavior.  There is an  important but poorly recognized difference in the relationship between blacks and whites according to whether they are on the right or left of the socio-political spectrum. Originating from the biological core, the social relationship among blacks and whites who have a conservative character structure is a live and let live attitude. ( Black leftists typically look upon black conservatives who believe that, with contempt as if they were selling themselves off to the ” white man.”)  By contrast, the relationship among blacks and whites who have a leftist character structure is tainted by pre-existing character attitudes derived from their secondary destructive layer which are brought into play and are acted out socially and politically .

And this is where the social mischief starts. White leftists displace their unconscious feelings of guilt onto blacks by indulging the black’s underlying feelings of inadequacy and their sense of entitlement. This permits the blacks to feel as if they are somehow a special people ( a reaction formation.)  Black leftists, on the other hand, respond to this condescending attitude on the part of white leftists by expressing their contempt and resentment verging on hatred of whites. From an instinctual standpoint, both parties have their neurotic feelings satisfied.  The whites are left with a good feeling having appeased their guilty consciences while the blacks have expressed their unconscious sadistic impulses toward whites. The dynamics of this relationship between black and white leftists is played out on all social levels ranging from the promotion of affirmative action programs in education and the workplace, to the election of incompetent and highly destructive politicians to public office. The problems in 21st century America are not primarily racial.  Race is used by leftist blacks and whites for the sole purpose of generating socio-political conflict.

There Is No Longer Any Difference Between Socialists And Communists

In the past authoritarian era, prior to around 1960, society was governed by the rule of law.   It was possible to distinguish between communists and socialists.  Whereas socialists were candid about their intentions and openly favored government takeover, communists denied their true intentions and thus operated clandestinely  (subversively) to bring about their desired goal of a socialist society.  Thus, it was relatively easy in those days to recognize the social danger of both types of individuals and to take appropriate defensive action against them.

In today’s anti-authoritarian society, there is a partial breakdown in the rule of law and social destructiveness from the secondary layer is increasingly breaking into the social surface.  As an example, it is no longer possible for most people to recognize the destructiveness of communists because they have succeeded in entering the political mainstream, the social surface, by presenting themselves to the world as true liberals.  They have become identified as ” progressives” and are now able to pass socialistic legislation to bring about their desired goals strictly within the rule of law. Therefore, practically speaking, there is no longer any need to make a distinction between the socialist’s and the  communist’s destructive mode of operation. It is one and the same.

America And Russia In The 21st Century

In 1991, the Communist Party was outlawed in Russia and the Soviet Union ceased to exist.  Since that time, Russia has been struggling to shed its communist past after the horrors of 70 years of totalitarian rule. With the election of Barack Obama as President of the United States and of numerous high ranking leftist political leaders to Congress in 2008 posing as genuine liberals, America is in the process of descending headlong into becoming a communist state. The situation is even more frightening if one considers that America, under Ronald Reagan as president, was the country that largely brought down the Soviet regime only two decades before.  Today, America is not only completely defenseless against the communist threat but moreover, is in danger of becoming a communist state  itself similar to the past Soviet Union.  Why is this happening?

It is not possible, according to conventional thinking, to understand why these opposing currents in the two countries are happening.  The phenomenon has to do with the highly infectious nature of the emotional plague; the emotional plague individuals on the one hand and the emotional sickness of people that the plague individuals can take hold of politically on the other. The emotional sickness of people involves the  segment of the American population who are unable to work and be responsible for their economic survival.  That their inability to work is a real sickness is shown by the fact that in America the opportunity to work and succeed is readily available to anyone who is willing to make the necessary effort.  Emotional plague individuals, in the person of leftist politicians, promise that they are the ones to care for people. Through socialistic legislation they take wealth from those who are able to work productively in the private sector and transfer it to those who are not. Nothing is done to address people’s emotionally based work disturbance as the descent into a socialist state continues unchecked.

A Work Democratic Organization

In a work democratic organization, the natural and intrinsic rational work relationships among human beings regulates the work process.  Since its incorporation in 1968, the American College of Orgonomy has functioned as a work democratic organization.  In contrast to formal organizations that are governed by the principle of compulsive work, the participation of an individual in a work democratic organization is  entirely voluntary and is sustained by the capacity to engage in work that is vital to the organization’s survival.

Healthy work originates from the biological core and is expressed through the periphery undistorted by armor.  It is rational, constructive and is experienced by the worker as pleasurable.  It has been typical in the College’s history that once a member’s particular work function begins to deteriorate for whatever reason, they lose touch with the organization of their own accord.  The deterioration usually takes the form of a mechanistic or mystical distortion manifested as rigidity of the original work function.  This is a clear indication that their secondary destructive layer (armor) is interfering with their ability to work.  It often comes out later that the exiting member or members had some personal reason justifying their leaving such as having a greater knowledge as to how the College should develop or a higher vision that the organization should have adopted.  The reason for their separation always comes out only after they leave, not before.

People often ask me why this or that person has left the College? The answer in almost every case is the same.  It is the result of the breakdown in the individual’s specific work function in the College.  It is primarily the rational work function of  the College’s members that sustains their ability to cooperate with each other and to work productively.
