Post-Election Stress Disorder

The widespread protests and violence by leftists on all social levels including campus students in response to the election of Donald Trump as President of the United States is an example of people suffering from Post-Election Stress Disorder (PESD), the latest symptom of the anti-authoritarian transformation of American society.

Aside from engaging in social demonstrations, the syndrome consists in people huddling together in “support groups” bemoaning their fate and commiserating with each other.
For these protestors,Trump’s persona contains all of the characteristics of authoritarian figures that are reviled and feared by leftists.

What these protesters actually fear, however, is taking charge of their own lives and advancing themselves. They fear the opportunities that that they have to benefit from living freely in America.

A symptom of their underlying need for less personal and social freedom is that these protesters are oblivious – clueless – of the terrifying emotional forces within them that are underlying their protestations.

Many have a serious work disturbance. Contemptuous of others who know and work for what they want, they demand the exact opposite of freedom: greater security. There is a poorly disguised desire to be cared for by society because they are emotionally too crippled and irresponsible to care for themselves. A sign of their work disturbance is that the thought of working for what they want rarely occurs to them because they are too caught up in protesting.

Full of disdain for the police who risk their lives protecting them and others, and inflamed by the media to act out in socially destructive demonstrations, they often break the law and choose to side with criminals. Justifying their actions, through the morality of political correctness as a “moral right,” they accuse the hated authority figures of racism and worse. They would rather put their energy into protesting social causes and be mindlessly influenced by leftist ideologues than focus on what they can do to improve their lives – a sign of severe ocular armor.

The Political Advantages of the Left

The following are some of the advantages of the political left in today’s world:
1) All public interactions take place on the social surface and leftist’s are able to operate successfully from that layer of their bio-psychic apparatus.
2) Because today’s society is anti-authoritarian, the political mainstream has shifted far to the left. Partisan battles involving social issues are often fought between political opponents who belong in varying degrees on the political left and therefore, espouse different degrees of the same basic socialistic ideas.
3) The shift of the political mainstream to the far left has legitimized the radical left in politics. Now called “progressives” or “socialists,” these radicals, in full view of a clueless public, are able run as candidates in the Democratic Party in the 2016 election for the office of president of the United States and include the current President himself.
4) Arriving at decisions collectively is comfortable for leftists. When it comes to politics, they are herd animals and behave as a group at election time. As long as they are being taken care of collectively by their leaders there is little effort involved in just going along with the tide of the mainstream left’s welfarist thinking. By being politically mindless and taking the easy way out, they can maintain their self-complacency, avoid looking at the degradation in the world and still believe in their political claptrap.
5) For the same reason, leftists cannot learn anything from the past. In the September 2016 Issue of the New Criterion, Gary Saul Morson writes: “Our knowledge of Bolshevik horrors expanded dramatically when, after the fall of the Soviet Union, its archives were opened. Jonathan Brent and Yale University Press brought out volume after volume of chilling documents, but public opinion did not noticeably change. How many readers of The New York Times know about its role in covering up the worst of Stalin’s crimes and earning a Pulitzer Prize (still unreturned) for doing so?
I understand being so carried away by Communist ideals that one denies or justifies millions of deaths. What amazes me is that people and publications who have done so still feel entitled to criticize others from a position of moral superiority.”

The reason that the author of this article is amazed about the leftists behavior of moral superiority is that he lacks an understanding of Dr. Elsworth Baker’s discovery of socio-political characterology first published in chapter 13 in his book, “Man in the Trap.”.

Obama and Sanders: Same Old, Same Old

The difference between a communist and a socialist is that communists want a violent overthrow of governments while socialists want a gradual overthrow. In our antiauthoritarian society governments are already in a state of advanced disintegration and so the term, communist is no longer applicable. Today, a socialist is the correct term to be used to describe these leftist radicals.

Barack Obama entered the political arena in the first decade of the 21th century when, with the help of the media, he successfully passed himself off as a liberal. This was a time when the threat of communism was being erased from the minds of the American public and rapidly becoming a word from the past. From a sociopolitical diagnostic standpoint, he was correctly identified at that time as a pseudo-liberal/communist. Today, with the antiauthoritarian transformation of society in full swing and the continuing breakdown of nations worldwide, socialist would be the apt term to describe people like him and others such as Hillary Clinton.

The gradual disintegration of the authoritarian social order and the continuing shift to the far left in the political mainstream are the reasons that a socialist named Bernie Sanders can come out of the closet and be championed by a far-left minded public as a legitimate political candidate.

But what is changing is not the character structure of the old time, freedom peddling politicians – the product – but the increasing demand – the market – of the helpless masses, young and old, who believe that they will be taken care of by this new/old order.

The 2016 Presidential Campaign

No matter how deafening the background noise is about the 2016 presidential campaign, the undercurrent that must be heard loud and clear through all the distractive clamor are the emotionally charged issues of morality. There is a deeper and more powerful political motive force behind all the political clap trap that is currently being presented on the social surface by the politicians, the pundits and the media.
Whether they know it or not, the presumptive candidates, Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton, are already lined up according to whether they believe in the old absolute morality of the past authoritarian world or in the new politically correct, relative morality of the current anti-authoritarian era.
These two moralities are entirely different ways of viewing and dealing with the world. They generate the ideological divide that unconsciously pits the political left and right against each other. Casting America into two irreconcilable, opposing groups, this social force from the human depths is the ultimate governor of people’s ideas and behavior. It must be consciously recognized, understood and resolved before social conditions can improve.

Understanding the Trump Phenomenon

In order to know the reason for Donald Trump’s enormous popularity it is first necessary to understand that there has been an incessant shift leftward in American politics especially during the Obama Administration. Originating from the political right, the Trump Phenomenon is simply a reaction to this shift to the left. The core of truth in the Trump Phenomenon is that people are fed up with having the left’s morality of political correctness shoved down their throats and Trump is the one that has led the battle against it. No other politician has had the courage to face this scourge head on.

However, the problem with Trump is that, like every other politician, he has nothing else to offer except perhaps a desire to return to the “good old days”. But this is an illusion. The genie is out of the bottle in terms of the enormous levels of human destructiveness contained in people’s destructive secondary layer. This reality is why humanity’s problems are outside of the political realm and no politician has any clue about what they are or how to go about dealing with them. Not looking to politicians like Trump, Obama and others for answers would be a step in the right direction. Hopefully, it could lead to some people’s looking inward at themselves and not to politics.

The Emotional Plague in Politics

In order to make sense social events, functional knowledge of the three fundamental layers of the human bio-psychic apparatus is essential. These are 1) the biological core, 2) the destructive middle layer and 3) the superficial layer.

All constructive social and political activity originates from the biological core, traveling outward to the periphery and being expressed without distortion from the social surface. In the presence of armor, impulses from the core are blocked by the middle layer and become irrational, harsh and socially destructive.

A politician’s functioning from his core and secondary layers defines his socio-political character diagnosis. However, in their daily interactions all successful politicians function from their superficial layer or facade and this is why political activity is almost always identical with the surface of social life. Nothing is ever revealed about what is going on in the social depths (“behind the scenes”) until much later. Because a politician’s survival depends on his appearing to be what he is on the surface, it is difficult for most people to distinguish one politician from another.
A politician’s boldfaced lies are likely to be believed as true by the public if they are expressed in a convincingly charming and “reasonable” manner. People invest an enormous amount of emotional energy to maintain their political ideas originating from their own destructive middle layer. This is done mainly through holding to the relative morality (political correctness) of the left and that of the absolute morality of the right.

People are increasingly in jeopardy of losing contact with their own depths. They are incapable of having a sense of the destructive middle layer and the biological core in their politicians. To make matters worse, in today’s antiauthoritarian society, the biological core is rarely, if ever, represented in social and political life while impulses from the destructive middle layer and surface are expressed everywhere.

The emotional plague in politics will run amuck as it is currently doing in this election year until people begin to have an understanding of the socio-political character structures of their leaders and can make a distinction between political activity originating from the three layers of people’s bio-psychic apparatus.

The Demise of the Two Party System in America

The following is an excerpt from my forthcoming book, “Clueless.”

In the March 5-6, 2016 issue of The Wall Street Journal, “The Republican Party is Shattering,” Peggy Noonan writes about the destruction of the Party. But if she would take a step back and look at the whole picture, she would see that not only the Republican Party but the Democratic Party and the entire Two Party system in America has broken down.

The function of the two party political system was the foundation of American politics in the past authoritarian era. At that time, there were generally an equal number of liberals and conservatives in the Democratic and Republican Parties and the system functioned to maintain a balance between the opposing ideological forces of the political left and the right. The opposing forces operated on the principle of attractive opposition (see chapter 5.) Today, this system has become a thing of the past and people are generally unaware of what is happening or why.

The reason is that, because in today’s anti-authoritarian society, American politics has shifted far to the left of center, the two party system no longer functions as a balance of opposing ideas to maintain social and political stability. American politics has become destabilized under constant pressure from leftist progressives. It no longer has a rational function.
